What would you say to the parents of a child who is expected to die in childhood? If you could offer only two words of comfort, try these...Tŷ Hafan.
Tŷ Hafan offers comfort, care and support for life-limited children and young people and is dedicated to improving the quality of life for the whole family. This comfort and support extends out of the hospice and reaches right into the heart of the family home, and is completely free of charge to the families in Wales who need it.
Tŷ Hafan was established in 1999 and since then has helped over 650 families, who live the dreadful reality that their children with life-limiting conditions may not reach the age of 18.
Children suffer from various conditions, such as Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, Cystic Fibrosis and Celebral Palsy. Some children are diagnosed at birth; others receive no diagnosis or at some point the decision maybe made to stop treatment. As you can imagine, families often feel shocked, confused and isolated. But they are not alone, there is a helping hand and it's called Tŷ Hafan.
Tŷ Hafan is not part of the NHS and receives no guaranteed statutory funding. To continue to offer our unique services free of charge to the families in Wales that need us we need to raise £4 million every year.
